From rocking a sari to strutting in heels, 5 men prove that dressing according to your gender is bulls**t
If you thought clothes make a man, think again.

How many times have you ridiculed a guy friend for wearing a colour that you thought was "a little too feminine"? If you have said too many times, then think about how you got to the conclusion that some colours are masculine while others are feminine.
Let's leave out colours for a change. Let's talk about clothes. We the women, wear anything we want. And why wouldn't we? We can wear saris, we can wear pantsuits, hell we can wear bowties and rock it. Because it's simple--clothes don't dictate us.
But tell us something, while women have made it a point to wear pants, why can't men wear saris or skirts? Why is the thought of a man in heels, in make-up, in anything that is termed "feminine", ridiculous?
Yes, movies have portrayed cross-dressing as a joke for years. Take the example of the Hollywood comedy White Chicks or even the Govinda movie Auntie No. 1. The humour factor of these movies was solely based on the fact that these men were dressed up as women.
However some men are breaking the barriers of gender. They are strutting in heels, draping a sari, putting on make-up (quite brilliantly we must say), and even donning beautiful dresses.
Here are 5 men who have proved to us that clothing does not define your gender.
Himanshu Verma a.k.a the Saree Man

He's a Delhi-based art curator has been wearing sarees for 12 years, who even puts together The Saree Festival every year. In an interview to The Quint, Himanshu said: "I started wearing saris as a gesture of re-appropriating the sari as a male garment and highlighting the historical traditions where it was all about the fluidity of the drape and not about the structure that was gender specific."
Exactly. Why must the saree be a woman's prerogative? After all fashion, just like gender, is fluid.
Manny Gutierrez

Maybelline recently created history by appointing popular make-up and beauty blogger Manny Gutierrez as the face of one of their campaigns. That's right, a man is the face of a make-up giant.

Manny was featured in Maybelline's latest ad campaign 'That Boss Life' for the product Big Shot mascara line. And if you follow him on social media, you will know that he sure can blend better than most of us! His make-up skills are on point and definitely make us feel jealous.
Will Young

He is a former Pop Idol winner and he is not shy of putting on a dress. Will Young in 2015 made the headlines when he revealed that he thinks dresses and skirts make him look more masculine. In an interview with The Telegraph, the 38-year-old British singer-songwriter said: "My (fashion) discovery is dresses and skirts, and men can occupy a dress and skirt and actually end up looking more masculine. I promise."
You go Will, masculinity is not threatened by donning a skirt!
Sinon Loresca

This Filipino social media entertainer has become an Internet sensation after stripping down to a Speedo and doing a sultry Miss Universe-inspired walk in six-inch heels. In order to show his support for Miss Philippines Maxine Medina, Sinon posted a video of himself on his Facebook account walking in sky-high pumps like a pro!
The video even showed him confidently strutting down the side walk while taking the occasional spin to show off his flawless figure. His walk will put the best supermodels to shame!
Jaden Smith
The 18-year-old American actor was revealed as the face of Louis Vuitton's Spring/Summer 2016 collections in 2015. What was the most striking thing about the campaign was the fact that he was dressed in a skirt! The ad campaign saw Jaden, who's the son of Will Smith, as the sole male featured alongside several female models, all posing on a sidewalk. He wore a metal-embroidered skirt with a fringed white top and a retro leather moto jacket, and topped the look off with a pair of glovelets and loafers.
The thing is clothes do not make a man. Manners make a man, or even a woman. Anybody can wear whatever the f*ck they want, without being ridiculed for it. So the next time you see your guy friend wearing pink, think about how he isn't any less of a man because of his choice of clothes.
