5 absolutely amazing desi ways to use gin in your food
It's World Gin Day today and that calls for a celebration.
Tada! It's World Gin Day today. Amazing, no? So, all you gin lovers out there, what are you waiting for? Here's your perfect chance to gulp down your favourite drink. Or wait--why walk the same path again? What me mean is that why don't you add a desi tadka to the alcohol to honour it on its special day? Yup, you heard that right. Ladies, we have some amazing, off-beat ideas for you. Just take gin out of the regular tonic and add it to your Indian favourites. Here's what you can do:
Add Gin To Your Gol Gappas
Call it pani puri, puchka, gol gappa, or whatever you what. But, there's no denying that this Indian delicacy is an absolute favourite of people across India. But, instead of putting the regular masala water in it, replace it with gin. Sprinkle it with whatever you like and just pop it in your mouth. And yes, you can thank us later.
How About Gin Banta?
So, how many times have you gulped down roadside banta to seek respite from the scorching summer sun? Millions, right? Well, do it again. However, this time, pour a bottle of gin instead of soda into your glass. Add masala to this heavenly drink and just go bottoms up. Cheers mate!
Go Jolly With Gin Lolly
This one is going to make you a very happy woman. After all, the weather calls for a chilled lolly to save you from dehydration. But, instead of going to your local ice cream wale bhaiya, just go buy a bottle of gin and some popsicle molds. Now, all you need to do is fill the cavities with gin and drop a stick in it. You might also want to add a few pieces of cucumber to it. Once you are done, put it in the freezer and leave it there for an hour. Take the molds out when the popsicles are ready. And you have yourself some delicious lollies waiting to be devoured.
Drizzle Gin Over Your Naan
Hmmm! This one is pretty unique, but uncommon. Some of the restaurants in India are now offering their customers the chance to taste alcohol-lathered naans. But, you don't need to go to a restaurant to taste it. You can do it at home. Yes, of course you would need to go out and buy some naans with whatever main course your heart desires. Just drizzle some gin on your naans for a unique flavour. However, don't overdo it.
Gin+Chicken=Fun
Last, but not the least. Your absolute favourite--chicken. And yes fellas, you can play with gin here too. In fact, it's fairly simple. Saute chicken in a large skillet over medium high heat until cooked through. Next, combine soy sauce, garlic powder, gin, pepper, and sugar in a small bowl. Stir until sugar is dissolved and pour over chicken. Let simmer for 10 to 15 minutes, or until sauce is thickened to taste.
