Women reveal how they are pressured into sending nudes and what happens when they refuse

In April 2017, 24-year-old Tracy* swiped right to Victor* on Tinder. They exchanged numbers and added each other on Facebook. In June, they met for their first date and instantly hit off. Tracy was over the moon. A couple of months passed without any glitches. However, soon Victor began pressurizing Tracy into sending her nudes. Now, sexting is pretty popular among couples all over the world. But, Tracy wasn't comfortable. When she denied, Victor emotionally blackmailed her. Thankfully, she didn't give in. This led to their break-up after a whirlwind romance that lasted for just four months.

Tracy is not alone. A lot of women are pressurized into sending nude pictures of themselves to men they are dating. When they refuse, they are threatened and abused.

Women Reveal Some Shocking Incidents

There's this website called A Thin Line, which aims at stopping the spread of sexual abuse in the form of sexting and cyberbullying. The stories posted here are horrific. Here's an example:

"I sent my boyfriend a naked pic after he insisted and was going to break up with me. Now he is threatening to send it to everyone if I don't have sex with him, I'm only 15."

Here's another one:

"A guy sent a naked picture of me to the whole school including the principal and my parents then everyone who got it sent it their phonebooks which resulted in about 300 plus people having my naked body on their phones."

What Happens Women Refuse

Women who refuse to send their nudes are threatened with murder!

"Researchers from Northwestern University analyzed nearly 500 accounts from teenage girls who described being pressured from boys and found that two-thirds were asked to send explicit photos in exchange for affection. However, the findings show that the promise of affection turned to threats and harassment from boys if they did not comply, leading to 20 percent of the girls aged 12 to 18 giving in and sending nude photos," reports the Daily Mail.

How Do Women Feel After Sending Their Nudes

According to researchers, the girls who were threatened reported feeling trapped, stuck and scared about the consequences of both sending and not sending photos. None of the young women who sent nude photos reported feeling relief or benefit from sending them and compliance often lead to self-doubt and fear about what might happen in the future.

What Should Women Do When Someone Asks Them For Nudes

For starters, women should refrain from sending their naked pictures to men they have just met. Or for that matter even to those who they know. Why? Because you never know who else can access their phones. So, try avoiding the situation all together. Next, if you are being pestered, say a firm NO. If things get threatening, confide in a friend or a parent or inform the police. But, under no circumstances give in to the insane demands. It will do you no good.
