Women around the world have always rallied for stringent rape laws. Laws that would make any potential rapist think twice before attacking his victims. However, the fact cannot be denied that there is also a downside to it. Now, before you come all guns blazing at us, listen: many women do tend to use such laws to their advantage and file fake rape cases. This not only destroys the life of an innocent man but also makes the judiciary and people in general apprehensive.

Recently, a 19-year-old, London-based woman accused her ex-boyfriend of rape. She called the cops, who arrested the man. The poor guy was held in a prison cell for three months. Wondering why are we calling him 'poor'? Well, because he did not commit the crime he was accused of.

Turns out, after the couple split, he moved on with his life. Eventually he started dating. After he got himself a new girlfriend, his ex became pretty jealous. She sent him texts saying that she would ruin him. This was uncovered when guy's family did some snooping and found the messages sent by her. This ultimately led to the court dropping the charges against him.

"I said I wanted to 'ruin his life' in anger because I couldn't believe after being with me that he'd move on so quickly with someone else. Yes I did send them (messages) but I didn't realise they would be used as evidence to clear him," said the woman in an interview to The Sun.

Interestingly, she sent him messages like "See you in court", "If I can't have you, no one can." She sent another text to a friend saying, "I'm not just going to mess his life up, I'm going to ruin it lol."

Now, this is not funny.

Cases such as these spoil chances of real victims getting justice. And it's a shame.
