"They say that love is more important than money, but have you ever tried to pay your bills with a hug?"-Anonymous

When you are in a relationship and enjoying the best that comes along with it, it gets tricky to keep a tab on your purse.

If you are one of those, who after a date ends up exhausting an entire month's budget--then let these words of wisdom enlighten you.

You do not need to spill big bucks to keep your partner happy. Instead, there are a million ways to maintain a sound relationship between your love life and your hard saved money.

Here are a few tricks that you could try to stop your money from draining, every time you meet your mate.

1. Keep a track of your expenditure and make sure to note down how much you spend in a day. This, for one, will keep you updated on your financial status, and give you clarity on as to how much you still can.

2. By chalking out a joint budget, you in away, involve your partner actively in the matters of saving. Together you can conjure an entertainment plan and assign how much you need to spend on a particular date.

3. Going out with somebody, who is more than willing to split the bills is always a plus. In case your partner has not taken the hint yet, break it down for them with love.

4. The start of a relationship is often embellished with days marking sweet nothings. If you are in the habit of celebrating weekly/monthly anniversaries, and exchanging gifts is an imperative part of it--then go the DIY way. It is cheaper creating a customized card at home than buying one at Archies or Hallmark.

5. If your phone bills are causing a dent in your pocket, and you've tried Skype, Whatsapp, and the like, why not give good old letter writing a try? There's no chance of anything getting misconstrued (as often happens with texts), and there's nothing quite as romantic as receiving a love note versus a love text!

6. Make use of online sales for gifts. Almost every other e-commerce website announces a sale. Be on the lookout for good deals. It will save you trips to the mall, and quite a bit of money.

7. Choose places that have free entry. Instead of a movie every time (and we all know how expensive that outing is), go to art exhibitions if you are creatively inclined. Get aboard your city's Hop On Hop Off bus and explore the culture. This is also a good way to find out how compatible you are and if your interests are similar.

8. If you are planning an out of station trip, it is better to holiday out of season. This will help you save money as cheap tickets and heavy discounts will come your way.

9. Going out on a date and spending money on hefty food bills is not a good idea. You can easily create a restaurant-like scenario at home. Just dim those lights and bring out some scented candles. Prepare a spread at home and enjoy.

10. Last, but not the least. Learn to have fun without spending a lot of money. Though easier said than done, it's not impossible. There are a million ways how you can make that happen. You can go for a walk, watch a movie on Netflix, or just sit under the powder-blue sky and talk for hours on end.
