Dating a man your best friend doesn't approve of is tougher than climbing the Everest

In the battle between my boyfriend and my boy friend, I'm the ultimate loser.

As a kid, I would innocently ask my mother to pick her favourite between me and my sister. She would smartly reply saying, "can you choose between your left eye and right eye?"

Back then, it seemed like an annoyingly diplomatic stance. But now I pretty much understand what she meant. Because I'm going through the same struggle. No, I don't have kids, but I definitely have two overgrown man children in my life, who are equally difficult to deal with. And obviously I can't choose one over the other, because both are equally important to me.

I am talking about my best friend and my boyfriend who are always at loggerheads with each other.

It's Almost Like Dealing With Two Successful Actresses in The Same Room
I say successful because they have me. I say actresses because they try and act cool around each other--too cool at times. But knowing both of them inside out, I know the tension that exists between them.

Thankfully, they don't fight over clothes. But their clear conflict of interests gets the better of me.

I Plead Guilty Of Being The Root Cause
It is natural for a boyfriend to be slightly insecure of his girlfriend's close male friend. And it's natural for a best friend to be protective of his BFF too. Also, it's natural to have fights in a relationship and absolutely natural to share the pain with your best friend.

However, what isn't natural is for your best friend and boyfriend to collectively make you poor girl the ultimate sufferer in this battle. While Mr. BFF can't help but hate on Mr. BF for making me cry, Mr. BF can't stop getting sick of Mr. BFF's third wheeling. On second thought, I'm the one who feels like a third wheel when stuk in a room with these two exchanging cold vibes and pelting some taunting one-liners at each other.

Their Gender Makes The Problem Even Bigger Than It Actually Is

Picture this: You try to hang out with both of them together just so that their judgmental asses take a backseat and they get to know each other better. But what happens in this case is that their egoistic asses take the forefront. Result? One person wants to go out for clubbing just because the other one insists on going to a fine-dine kindda place. So you have to be on your toes and think of a reasonable middle ground to satisfy them both. Hence, a café is the way to go even though you had a movie on your mind. Tsk Tsk.
