This 50-year-old woman fought the society to remarry after her husband passed away

It was the year 1983, when then 25-year-old Komola lost her husband. Her world came crashing down but she had three children to take care of. Having no money to feed so many mouths, she started selling bread. With whatever she saved, Komola bought a small piece of land for her sons. Like a caring parent, she ensured that her sons married well. Komola performed all her paternal duties, yet when it came to her, she was a lonely soul. With no one for company, she struggled for years. Until, she met a laborer, who regularly visited her humble restaurant. He used to visit the joint every day for lunch. Even after devouring his meal, he would stay behind for some time. Without saying much, he started helping Komolo with the restaurant work. He would even help her in washing dishes. Cut to 2018, Komolo is now a 50-year-old. Furthermore, she is now married to him.

Now, this is not a plot right out of a film or a page out of a novel. It's a true story shared by a Bangladeshi photographer and storyteller GMB Akash. He took to Facebook to share this heart-touching tale. And there are two reasons why you should read about it:

1. It's no secret that your Facebook timeline is right now flooded news of rape, molestation, and murder. An overdose of negativity, to say the least. With so much hostility around, this simple yet touching story comes as a breath of fresh air.

2. Love stories in contemporary cinema and literature often revolve around young love and passion. But, love has no age. Meaning your age doesn't determine when you should fall in love. However, love is often seen as a thing for the young. But, Komolo has shattered stereotypes with her love story. She defied the age norm and tied the knot with the man of her dreams while in her 50s.

Komolo's love story was riddled with the fear of log kya kahenge? And her fears were not unfounded. She was petrified how her young sons would react when they would get to know that their 50-year-old widowed mother was in love. But, she fought it all. She fought the norms. She fought the society. And she fought the stereotypes.
