Meet Hijarbie, the hijab-clad Barbie doll that has taken Internet by storm

Barbie dolls have always been a part of every girl's childhood. They were beautifully dressed, came with their own combs, and were great to play house with. And over the years, this particular doll has gone through various transformations. Be it Barbies with different skin tones or body sizes, our childhood playmate has never been the same.

To be more inclusive, Barbie has got a unique makeover--she now has a hijab! Isn't that amazing? The new Hijab-wearing Barbie is fondly being known as 'Hijarbie'.

Three mothers from Pittsburgh, America, have launched 'Hello Hijab', a range of small hijab's for Barbie-sized dolls. The dolls cost $6 dollars (around Rs 386) each and sport different skin tones as well!

These Barbies are dressed in colorful full length dresses with matching headscarves that add an extra allure to them.

The creators of the doll, Gisele Fetterman, Safaa Bokhari, and Kristen Michaels, hope that these dolls will be able to teach children about inclusiveness. "I hope that we're raising a kinder generation. And if our children are playing with dolls that look like all kinds of people, when they grow up and meet these people, I hope they're going to be a lot kinder than generations before them," The Telegraph quoted Fetterman saying.

'Hello Hijab' follows the success of Hijarbie, a hugely popular Instagram account run by Nigerian medical scientist Haneefa Adam, featuring images of a hijab-wearing Barbie. The account has been taking internet by storm for quite some time and already has almost 79,000 followers!

We are so used to see the doll in denim hot pants and pink skimpy tops, that these dolls seem like a breath of fresh air. We are hoping that Barbies will get many more makeovers that would be a true representation of different cultures and communities.
