So, what's your most favourite item on the McDonald's menu? If it's the Filet-O-Fish burger, then you are in for a rude shock. Well, according to the workers at the food joint, the fish burger is the worst thing that you can order.

It all began, when a few people posted a question on Reddit, directed at McDonald's workers. They asked what food item should they completely steer clear of. Surprisingly, it was not Mc Flurry or the nuggets, but the much-loved fish burger.

According to a report published in the Independent, one of the workers wrote: "At McDonald's just say you want a fish filet cooked to order. It takes about five minutes longer but is worth it compared to the filet that has been in the heated cabinet for hours." Some even added that the fillet of the fish is the farthest thing from fresh food.

The workers pointed out that the fish served in burgers is cooked in a hurry. So, if you really like to order Filet-O-Fish burger and want to eat fresh food, make sure you mention you are ready to wait. You see, McDonald's employees are under the obligation to make something fresh to order. "As long as you're willing to wait we pretty much had to make it. Same with fries without salt," wrote an employee.

No points for guessing that the fish served at the end of the day or just heated after sitting stale for hours is not the best thing to eat. However, McDonald's spokesman stated that the Reddit thread is USA-specific and has no impact on the international market. Well, that may be the case but when it comes to food safety, negligence is not the best policy. So, it's better to be safe than sorry. The next time you visit McDonald's, you know what not to eat.
