This ad will make you miss your grandparents, a lot

The ad shows a beautiful bond between a small boy and his grandfather

We all long for time with our grandparents--they are people who shield us from our parents' anger and pamper us. But old age has its own set of problems and as kids; we might not always get them. We become insensitive to their fragile health without meaning to. This ad is the bridge that brings the two generations together.

What I like about this ad :

1. No unrealistic settings in fancy houses- the boy and the sick grandfather feel like us, people we are and whom we meet everyday

2. I loved the fact that they chose to inculcate values in the child. The idea of bonding is done over gardening, an activity that is productive and also- environment friendly

3. There are no dialogues as such, except for the young boy trying to connect with his dadu. The gardening becomes the replacement of language instead. Gestures are enough.

4. You are as excited as the two characters about the plants, for the tomatoes to ripen, for the relationship to bear fruit.

5. When they hug, I am sure you had a smile on your face. In two minutes and thirty seconds, you might have re-lived your favourite memories with your grandparents.

And maybe, just maybe, even given them a call, telling them how you miss them.

There was another ad that comes to my mind, of Fortune Refined oil and foods, when an old grandmother tries to feed his grandson, who is in a hospital. Do chammach ghee in dal and her grandson would be healthy is her conviction. You can watch it here:

At a time when media is full of news about parents being thrown out of houses and grandparents being made to live in a corner of the house, neglected, such an ad is a bright spot of life. Every ad sells a product, but ads like these strikes a chord with you, because its heart is in the right place.
