Believe it or not: Indians are searching for Aadhar's website more than porn on the Internet

There was a time when most searched websites in India were largely porn. So, out of top five, three would be dedicated to sex videos. Now, this may come as a surprise to many, but porn is no longer the most searched thing on the Internet as far India goes. Any guesses what could have dethroned it? Well, it's none other than our very own Aadhar website. Yup, most Indians are searching for UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) online than porn.

The website has got so many page views lately that it has left behind Xvideos. The website offers free porn clips and is more popular than Pornhub. In fact, it gets 8.6% traffic from India. Not to mention, it is the 38th most popular website on the Internet. However, it now stands at spot 16 whereas uidai.gov.in is at 15.

According to a report published in Business Insider India, Alexa, the UIDAI website gets more traffic from India than Xvideos.com. India ranks 3rd in the porn consumption index worldwide.

Seems like Aadhar is on everyone's mind right now. Earlier, people were directed to link all their bank accounts to their Aadhar card. However, Supreme Court of India recently ruled that people will have more time on their hands. It indefinitely extended the deadline, which sent across a wave of happiness among the citizens of the country.

But, taking into account what has been happening over the past few months with Aadhar in the mainstay, it's not hard to guess why people are so obsessed with its website.

Apart from Aadhar, Google, YouTube, Facebook, Amazon, Wikipedia, Flipkart, Instagram, and yours truly Indiatimes, are some of the other most searched websites.
