Indian women are more adventurous than men on vacations. It's not hard to guess why

Have you ever thought about--in detail of course--the way you usually behave in your lives vs when you are on a vacation? If not, then you must. You most definitely will notice a stark difference between your personalities. For starters, you will be more willing to experiment with new things, talk to new people, and be more open to new experiences. Well, we can say this with such certainty because a new survey has revealed that Indian women are more adventurous than men on their vacations.

What The Survey Says?

According to a report published in the Hindustan Times, Airbnb has announced the results of its Asia Pacific (APAC) Travel survey.

"Indian women are more adventurous in trying local food and drink (74% ) versus 68% of men. Women are more likely to try new activities of experiences (71% versus 66% men). Also, 71% Indians are most likely to want to try local food," states the report. The survey conducted in seven countries--Australia, China, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and Thailand. Well, it doesn't take a genius to realize that Indian women are no damsels in distress on vacations.

Is It True?

Of course, there's enough valid data supporting the claim, but it's pretty evident why Indian women give a tough competition to men when it comes to adventure. Peeps, adventure here doesn't just mean climbing mountains, hiking, and scuba diving. It refers to the willingness to try new things--something that's out of a person's comfort zone. So, you might not like doing a certain activity in your daily life because you think it's too dangerous for you or you might just fail. However, once you are on a vacation--your inhibitions take a back seat. You see a different side of yourself and it takes you by surprise.

If you ask us, we are really not surprised that women are more adventurous than men on vacations.

Here's Why It Happens

You see, women in our society are molded into behaving a certain way, talk a certain way, and dress a certain way. So, they adhere to these diktats every day of their lives, not really willing to experiment or explore other avenues. However, when they are on a vacation, they keep their inhibitions aside. Why, you ask? Well, because they are away from the set-up, people, and culture they live in. A new setting and environment makes them do things they otherwise would not attempt in their usual humdrum lives.

"The anonymity of being a tourist is more important for women than men because of double standards and the many sanctions attached to women's behavior in everyday life. A sense of 'timelessness' and 'placelessness' might contribute to women's increased willingness to take some risks, just as it could contribute to women's practices of eating differently, sleeping differently and communicating differently," states a report published in the Chicago Tribune.

So, if you are looking for an opportunity to break free--consider taking a vacation.
