My first experience with food was at the age of 8, when I surprised my mother by making a complete meal of daal, Chawal, aloo Ka Bhujiya and tamatter ki chutney while she was away at work. I lost my father when I was 3 years old and my mother was a working woman, so it was the most amazing feeling to make her feel special when she got back tired from work. Since then cooking became my second nature however remained an untapped talent in till Mummy Ka Magic happened.

As a teenager I always wanted to be a model/actor but since I came from a conservative family I was only allowed to do  commercials. Having done over a 100 commercials and being the face for Whirpool Home Appliances whereby the slogan "Mummy Ka Magic chalega" became a national household term, contentment came rather early in life for me. People would ask me why I chose to play the role of a mother at the age of 19 n I would just smile n say ' I love being a mom".

Post marriage I did a couple of movies and television shows along with commercials. I also started spending a lot of time at home with my family, since cooking came naturally to me, kept trying my hand at whatever new I could learn.. Which included some sumptuous Rajasthani delicacies as well( courtesy my mother-in-law who is Rajput).  So somewhere dabbling between being a daughter in law , wife and an actor I was getting more and more Involved in cooking as well.

Then came the big turning point in my life when I actually became a mom. Agastya's birth and embracing motherhood gave a new meaning to my life, yet brought some unknown challenges with it. As my son was growing up I realized that like most kids even my son was fussy when it came to eating, and that I was not going to be that dream mother who says 'Oh My Son Eats Everything!!' Haha, anyways with time I finally made peace with the fact that most Children tend to get bored with mundane eating and the only way to feed your child was with something "New" everyday but no matter how amazing that sounds, to execute the same is definitely not easy, so I started experimenting with simple foods that I could twist and turn around in an innovative way to make it different and as healthy as possible with of course some indulgences for him thrown in.

One day Chef Sanjeev Kapoor decided to come home with his lovely better half, Alyona and offered me cookery show for kids for his upcoming new channel, FoodFood! now one thing was trying these fun things at home for my son and a completely different thing to do it for millions of kids out there seemed tough, even impossible actually but I finally succumbed to Chef Sanjeev's persuasion and his conviction that if there was anyone who can do it, it's me.

Little did I know that Mummy Ka Magic will get me so much love and adulation from the audience go on to become one of the top rated shows of the channel . It won the best Cookery show award in by I just recently on I won the Best Celebrity host award for Mummy Ka Magic by the 7th Golden  Star Awards and the Best Celebrity Female Chef Award by Women achievers.

I feel humbled by all the appreciation and now that expectations off me are rising, I am planning to get more advanced in this filed and hone my skills to actually move from a Home Chef to a real one the quest of knowledge is there and the passion for food has made me actually leave home for more than a month now to come to Singapore and do an advanced research on Culinary Arts through reputed Culinary schools, interaction with some renowned Chefs here and witnessing some great food events.

Will be back soon and hopefully will be able to add the science of cooking to my recipes and like I always say in my show, let's BLEND BLEND BLEND.
