Abhay Deol becomes the dark knight, takes down Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone for endorsing fairness creams

Having fair skin in India has its advantages. Especially if you are a woman of marriageable age, having a porcelain white skin is your best bet to find an agreeable match--and reduce the size of dowry if you're a woman.

Sounds regressive right? Well, it's the truth. In fact, our country is so obessessed with fairness, that almost every year there is a new fairness cream that pops up in the market. And all leading Bollywood stars have endored fairness creams at some point or the other.

From Deepika Padukone to Sonam Kapoor to Shah Rukh Khan--there's hardly a star who hasn't had his or her face pasted next to a huge-ass poster telling you the key to radiance--and success.

Thankfully, there are still a few celebrities who won't sell their integrity for money. Abhay Doel happens to be one them.

In fact, instead of joining the bandwagon and endorsing fairness creams and other such products mean to grant the men and women of India enviable radiance, he decided to take on--quite valiantly, of course--cosmetic giants and Bollywood celebrities.

Through a series of rather sarcastic Facebook posts, Abhay tackled the notion that India is not a racist country--and that fair isn't always lovely. So what if fairness creams are everywhere? You're just reading too much into it.

The problem of course is not with celebrities like Ileana D'Cruz and Deepika Padukone, willing to endorse the route to fairness as the right way of life.

Who's demeaning dark skin? Not Shah Rukh Khan. He's just demeaning women, and cementing gender stereotypes.

Abhay also takes a dig at outspoken celebrities trying to change societal mindsets.

There are a lot of reasons to love Abhay. For starters, you can't ignore them glorious dimples. His voice is also magic. But of all the reasons to swoon over this handsome hunk, his fearless integrity tops the list.
