Shilpa Shetty's tips to wear animal print

  • A fierce move
While I've just spelled out plenty of 'safe' ways to work the animal-print trend, don't be afraid to take a few risks, too. For instance, in the photograph above, I'm wearing a floral, leopard-print Falguni and Shane maxi-that's three keys trends worn in one outfit! There's so much room for experimentation in the sartorial side to zoology; just stick to these know-hows, be playful, and you'll be glamorous in those cheetah prints soon enough!"

  • Shoe-in!
There are so many variations here-from monochromatic croc leathers and snake skins to bold pony and zebra patterns. When wearing your jungleinspired ballet flats, booties or pumps, complement with neutral clothing; denim and cream work well, too. To make things more fashforward, pair your jungle print with a bright dress, or pair a cheetah blouse with jeans and zebra shoes.

    Brights all the way
I'm all for testing prints in a bright colour like hot pink or lime green-it's fun and fresh! Always team bold animal prints with safe accessories and make-up-black court shoes, a no-fuss cluth, and nude lips.

  • Take it to work
Animal prints to the office? Oh, yes you can! Team a pair of conservative trousers with a pussy-bow blouse in a wild print, or add a pastel cardigan or sharp blazer over a knee-length dress. Or simply look for animalinspired office pumps.

    Flaunt that figure
Cover up your not-so flattering areas with wild prints and accentuate your assets. Wear an animal belt to spotlight your tiny waist, or if you’re top heavy, knot a pretty scarf around your neck.

  • Neutral know-how
If you fear looking over-the-top in your jungle garb, stick to neutral basics. An LBD under a cheetah-spotted coat is classic sexy. Backing the animal print-in a blouse, booties or a skirt-with all black, brown, white, or navy-is chic.

    Tastefully tempting
Try to avoid plunging necklines and uber short lengths. Remember, you're already making a statement with your pick, so stick to a midi or maxi length for your dresses and skirts.

  • Twin test
That you can never wear two animal prints together is a myth. You can dare the look, as long as you do it with accessories and mix up your animal prints. Match leopard boots with a zebra clutch, or try an eclectic hat and scarf combo. Standout!

  • Start small
It's safer-and smarter-to tease the ferocious side in you by starting with playful, accessorising touches: try a leopardsplashed bag, a zebra scarf, a snakeskin belt, or a tiger-striped pair of booties. Keep the rest of your outfit muted or complementary, simple and subtle.

  • If there's one thing Ms Shetty knows (apart from looking really fit and being a business brain), it's aceing one of this year's fiercest fashion trend-animal print.

Fashion's taken a wild turn this year with jungle-inspired outfits and accessories spotted on almost every runway. From dresses and handbags, to shoes and jewellery, here are Shilpa Shetty's top tips for channeling your fierce side...

    Slight the wilderness

Less is more here-centre on a single wild side to your outfit. If your top has a leopard/tiger/zebra (or even giraffe!) print, keep your pants, tights or skirt clear of similar or clashing prints. If your dress is printed, stick to black stilettos-you can brave a touch of a similar print on your heels if the black or white shade is dominant.
