Recent Big B films that prove he's not a Box Office-friendly actor

Here are the last few films of Big B's, which deserved a lot more at the Box Office, for just the thespian's acting, if not for anything else...and that he's not a very Box Office-friendly actor.

  • Rann
Rann, Amitabh Bachchan's political drama-cum-thriller saw the actor in a brilliant take on the falling journalistic ethics of the day. The eponymous politics-media battlefield, and Bachchan's on-screen crusade against the manufacturing of news to gain TRPs couldn't really score at the Box Office.

  • Teen Patti
This 2010 film had quite an enviable cast, with names like Ben Kingsley, R Madhavan, Raima Sen, apart from Amitabh Bachchan. However, the performances of the actors weren't enough to catapult it to the league of memorable Bollywood films.

  • Bbuddah Hoga...Terra Baap
In this action-comedy, Amitabh Bachchan plays the lovable hitman Viju with much elan. His performance aside, nothing much is memorable about this film.

  • Aarakshan
An ensemble cast comprising Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, Prateik Babbar, Manoj Bajpayee could do nothing to salvage this Prakash Jha film from hitting the 'lukewarm' mark at the Box Office. The total collections of the film were somewhere around a not-so-great 42 crores.

  • Department
Amitabh 's 2012 release, Department, was a disaster both story-wise, as well as in terms of collections. Big B's performance couldn't help the film from sinking into oblivion.

  • Bhoothnath Returns
Before Shamitabh, Amitabh's fans saw him in a sequel to the 2008 Bhoothnath, Bhoothnath Returns, in 2014. Despite Big B's wow-inducing performance, the film managed to collect only about 53 crores all over the world.

  • When Amitabh Bachchan gets in front of the camera, his performance takes care of the rest of the film, more or less. The story, the rest of the cast, the background, everything fades in front of the baritone of the megastar, or so most of his films have portrayed. In his latest release, Shamitabh, too, the same seems the case. The film sees a brilliant performance from Big B, but given the Box Office trends, it doesn't seem likely that it will be able to rake in much of the moolah. However, Box Office collections have hardly impacted Bachchan Sr's career, performance or presence in any way whatsoever. Going by the last few films of the actor, there has mostly been a disparity between his acting and the film's earnings. Here are the last few films of Big B's, which deserved a lot more at the Box Office, for just the thespian's acting, if not for anything else...and that he's not a very Box Office-friendly actor.

    Shamitabh
While Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush's performances are being praised to the heavens, the Box Office collections don't seem to be able to march shoulder-to-shoulder with the same. The first two days' earnings are only a lukewarm 8.25 crores.
