There are a lot of things that your smartphone is good for, but the one reason you must keep it at a distance is of course radiation. While there is no concrete evidence estabilishing the link between radiation emitted from cellphones and cancer, a review of 21 studies has pointed the one thing that cellphone radiation does actually do: reduce men's sperm count.

The review conducted at Australia's University of Newcastle found out that cellphone radiation can actually destroy sperm, especially in men who often put their phones in their front pockets--an area precariously close to the genitals.

The review, which actually analysed 27 studies, found smartphone's sperm killing link in 21 studies. The review also suggests that the surviving sperm could be potentianlly DNA-damaged,

'While this subject remains a topic of active debate, this review has considered the growing body of evidence suggesting a possible role for RF-EMR [radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation] induced damage of the male germ line,' the Daily Mail quotes the Australian authors as saying.

'In a majority of studies, this damage has been characterized by loss of sperm motility and viability as well as the induction of ROS generation and DNA damage.'

While we understand that it's not exactly easy for anyone in this day and age to part ways with their precious smartphone, but given that male infertility is on rise across the globe, perhaps it's time to convince your partner to find a better place to nest his little device?
