Your guide to having the monsoon wedding of your dreams

Here, Surruchi Joshhi--founder and director at wedding planning company Raas Luxury Weddings--shares a list of dos and don'ts for that perfect monsoon wedding.

Dos:

1. Instead of dreading it, make rain a welcome guest at your wedding. How you ask? Just plan a rain dance party as part of your pre-wedding event.

2. When it's pouring outside, conventional seating can become quite a challenge. While a part- indoor-part-outdoor kind of an arrangement is the best, you can put out bean bags for the young and the daring in the open area.  

3. When it comes to decor and decorations, think bright and flowy. Neons, flowery drapes and ribbon accents will perfectly suit the.

4. Highlight the monsoon element in your giveaways and stationery.

5. For your outfits, think beyond the regular reds and pinks. Peach, subtle gold, rose pink, tomato red are the colours of the season.

6. Forget bangles, sunshades, and other common giveaways. How good is a pretty umbrella for your guests?

7. Your guests will need to wrap up their phones and belongings when they step out into the rain, so arrange for waterproof bags. Personalise them for an added effect.  

Don'ts:

1. Avoid wearing heavy foundation--it just won't keep up in this weather.

2. Don't use flower-based decorations; instead pick a parachute-material for the gazebo and utilise floral prints in the drape. You can also opt for artificial flowers.

3. A pair of high heels can be your worst enemy during the monsoon. Choose juttis or floral mojaris over stilettos.

4. For your mehendi, don't go for real flower jewellery; instead pick up tiaras or gota jewellery.
