Bizarre research says women turn lesbian just to attract men. Yes, it's been conducted by a man

There are a lot of theories out there that try to decode the mysteries of lesbianism. A few state that it's due to some hormonal disorder while some blame feminism for turning free-thinking women into homosexuals. So, basically there's no dearth of preposterous explanations as to why women get attracted to people of their own gender.

However, this new research published in Science Direct trumps all the outlandish studies ever conducted. According to a study conducted by Menelaos Apostolou, professor at the University of Nicosia in Cyprus, same-sex relationships in women only exist because it turns men on! Yup, he actually said that.

Wondering how he came up with the data to support the study? Well, Apostolou surveyed 1,509 heterosexual people and found out that 15% of men in long-term relationships would enjoy it if their partner had sex with a woman.

"When some woman has sex with another woman she does not have sex with another man. This translates into same-sex contact, reducing the risk of cuckoldry. A considerable proportion of men desire same-sex attractions in women and this is one possible reason why many women have such attractions. Also, since men get 'sexually excited' by the idea of their partner having a same sex attraction, lesbians try to cater to this attraction," he wrote in the paper.

So, if Apostolou's research is to be believed, the prime reason why women turn into homosexuals is to attract men. Oh come on! Not everything that women do has an ulterior motive of pleasing men. And hold on, before you go banging your head against the wall after reading this insane theory, there's more coming your way.

"The study also suggests another possible reason for men being attracted to lesbian or bisexual women, is that if their partner cheats on them, they're still in with a chance of having children," reports Independent.

It's no surprise that after this study became public, Twitter exploded with reactions.
