How to successfully spot a lesbian in a room full of women

That's right folks! She's a freak of nature with short hair and a body covered in tattoos.

Stereotypes make the world go round. No, no-don't deny it. After all, we all dabble in stereotypes even if we consider ourselves to be of the 'I don't judge' breed of humans. Remember how you said: 'Punjabis are so loud' or 'She's dusky, so she must be south Indian'. Yup, those are stereotypes!

What stereotypes help with, apart from alienating people, is help identifying them. After all, how else will you know whether that woman chatting you up at the party is gay or not, if not for her undercut?

Yup, folks. You can easily identify a homosexual woman from her straight kind by keeping in mind these six characteristics that all lesbians have. Happy hunting!

Short Hair, Don't Care-She Must Be Gay
If a woman has a shaved head or a really-short pixie cut, she's probably a lesbian, right? Then going by the same logic, if a woman has too much hair, she's probably a bear in disguise!

If you talk about the fact that most straight women wouldn't go for a bold hairdo, then let us tell you many top-notch models have short hair. Hell, they started the trend. Take Hollywood hottie Halle Berry for instance. She's trademarked the pixie cut! Not to mention she has a child with French heartthrob Olivier Martinez and is anything but gay!

A Woman Who's a Sports Nut? She Can't Possibly Be Straight
Saying that only gay women like or play sports is basically insinuating that straight women are lazy, inactive, with a love for sedentary lifestyle. Of course, you're forgetting that we've got plenty of sportswomen making a name for themselves-and they're not gay.

Remember star wrestler Geeta Phogat? Even if you don't remember her, you can't possibly forget last year's top grossing film-Dangal. It's about her and sister.

She can deliver a punch that can knock the daylights out of anyone. And she recently got married. So maybe sports isn't the right criteria!

She Dresses Like a Man. Now That's a Red Flag
Let's begin with what the phrase 'dressing like a man' mean. Wearing jeans, trousers has really nothing to do with someone's sexuality. And if that's the case than what would you say about Ellen DeGeneres' wife Portia De Rossi? She's a lesbian, wears dresses, and looks absolutely drop-dead gorgeous in them!

Short Fingernails Sans Nail Polish. Gay Alert!
Apart from the fact that women who sleep with other women like to keep their nails trimmed, in order to avoid harming their partner's ahem… more sensitive areas, this stereotype is bogus.

Heterosexual women could also like to keep their nails trimmed, because hello-hygiene! No one likes food sticking inside their nails. And who has the time for manicures in such a busy life?

And let's forget those nervous wreaks who often end up biting their nails.

A Woman Who Hates Men, Must Love Women
Let's get one thing straight: just because someone loves women, doesn't mean they hate men. They are just not sexually attracted to the members of opposite sex, that's all.

Also funny thing, you don't really have to be a lesbian to hate men. Are we right, or are we right?

She's Not Outgrown Her Tomboy Phase Yet. How Gay is That?

Remember Kajol in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai when she was in college? She was madly in love with Rahul, but couldn't be 'girly' for the love of God!

A lot of girls don't like to use make-up or wear pink. Not to mention, sitting with your legs crossed and closed at all times is uncomfortable. Isn't that why men try to do a sitting split whenever they get a chance?

Being a 'tomboy' is a matter of comfort on a woman's part, and mere wishful thinking for those reading this in order to spot themselves a lesbian.

So dear reader here in the hopes of figuring out the sexual orientation of the tomboyish, short-haired woman in your office, here's the thing: clothes don't maketh a lesbian. In fact, there are no tell-tale signs.

If curiosity is killing your cat, then you can always ask her. Think that's too rude? Well, then mind your own business-because if she wants you to know of her sexual orientation she'll do it without making you do the guesswork.
