What do you do when you feel exhausted during the day? Probably fill up your tummy with food that promises to give you energy. But, are you sure you are eating the right thing? What if the foods you are consuming are making you feel all the more tired. Yup, that can happen. Not everything that is edible can perk up your energy levels. So, believe it or not, but these foods can make you feel tired all day:

White Bread

If you love eating white bread, then you are heading for trouble. Also, if it's your favourite breakfast item then you must look for healthier alternatives.

"If you're choosing carbs with a high glycemic index like white bread instead of those with whole grains like whole-wheat bread then you're not getting the key elements that keep you feeling strong and satiated. High-glycemic carbs don't have a lot of fiber, so they break down quickly, and you don't get that steady stream of energy like you do with the whole grains," states a report published in Women's Health magazine.

Pasta

Yummy! The tangy goodness is just too amazing to ignore. However, when it comes to your energy levels, pasta really doesn't help in keeping them up. According to a report published in Huffington Post, eating pasta can cause a rise in blood sugar, followed by a plunge in insulin levels. This can cause fatigue and weakness. So, there you go. No more pasta for you during the day.

Cherries

Those who swear by fruits for their amazing health benefits are in for a rude shock--especially if you love cherries. Turns out, this probably is not the right fruit to eat if you wish to feel energized all day.

"While cherries are delicious, they're better for bedtime than mid-day, as the tryptophan content can make us sleepy and sluggish. Eat some cherries before bed for optimal benefits," states a report published in the Bustle.

Walnuts

Of course, walnuts are great for your brain health, but it's best if you stay away from them during the day. Moreover, it's not a good idea to eat them at the start of the day.

"Walnuts contain a lot of tryptophan, like hummus. But they also have their own source of melatonin, the sleep hormone.  If you want a good night's sleep, much on these before you hit the hay," states a report published in minq.com.
