Everyone seems to be bitten by the weight-loss bug these days. As a result, the Internet is full of all kinds of informative articles on diets and exercise and the professional dieticians and fitness trainers have chock-a-block schedules. And that's not it.

Even the supermarket alleys offering fat-free/low-cal/ gluten-free/sugar-free foods are also experiencing a great boom.

But as they say, all that glitters is not gold. Hence, these promising millennial food trends have a terrible downside too and can shatter your weight-loss dreams instead of helping you achieve your body goals.

Don't believe us? Take a look:

1. Juicing

Squeezing and grinding your favourite fruits into a glass of juice may seem like a healthy idea, but trust us ladies, it is indeed a terrible one. A glass of juice means sugar and carbs with absolutely no goodness of fibre and other essential nutrients. So, think before you drink.

2. Sugar-Free Sweets
From sugar-free gums to sugar-free drinks to sugar-free ice-creams, the market is full of promising products which claim to satisfy your sweet tooth minus the calories of the famous weight-loss enemy--sugar.
But do you know that a gamut of studies have found that artificial sweeteners have several deadly side effects including headaches, anxiety, heart palpitations, depression, neurological disorders, and the much-dreaded-weight gain.

3. Diet Snacks and Fat-Free Everything

It's funny how we associate fat with weight gain. So much so that it's the first thing we tend to cut out from our diet when it comes to achieving our weight-loss goals. As a result, we even deprive ourselves of the healthy monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats as well, which are essential for the body and can even aid weight loss. Moreover, those fat-free or low-cal  snacks we often end up buying are so blinding that we don't realize the harm that the other ingredients like sodium, salt, masalas, and preservatives can do to us.

4. Nutrition Bars

There's so much hype and hoopla around protein bars and energy bars and what not that we just tend to forget all about the sugar content in them. Not to mention, the preservatives and other added chemicals that can spell doom for your body. Ladies, remember, snacks are supposed to enhance our diet, not worsen it on the pretext of providing some nutritive value.
