It's not easy to make people understand what you are going through when you suffer from depression. You are always at a loss of words and whatever you wish to convey, gets lost in sentences. If suffering from depression is not taxing enough, things get all the more difficult when you are in a relationship. You are meant to share a bond, but the heaviness of what you are going through takes a toll on your relationship.

So, if this is what is happening to you, then here are a few practical tips to help you save your relationship:

Find Out If You Are Depressed

First things first, find out if you are depressed. A lot of people ignore the symptoms and confuse it with sadness. "For those of us who live with depression, we can usually tell when it hits. Simple tasks that just the day before that were easy to do suddenly become difficult. Sleep is elusive. We are short-tempered and crabby. Each of us manifests depression differently," states a report published in Prevention.

So, when you feel there's something off--seek professional help.

Talk It Out With Your Partner

Your partner needs to know what you are going through. So, talk it out. It might seem like an uphill climb--trying to explain him stuff--but you've got to do it. Let him know what you are going through. Unless you do that--you can't expect him to understand your feelings overnight.

Don't Isolate Yourself

"One of the ways to save your relationship when you feel depressed is to do at least small things with people who care about you. It can be a little coffee date, a road trip or a short walk in the park. These small things will truly help both of you feel a bit happier. Even though they don`t take a lot of your time and strength, they show your partner that you still remember about him and you really need him in your life," states a report published in Womanitely.

Let Your Partner Do What He Likes

"Encourage your partner to go do something they love instead of hanging around being miserable with you. If you let them do this they will come home refreshed and better able to support you," states a report published in Prevention.
