The United Kingdom's 34-degree heatwave seems to have taken the region by storm. So much so that there are already talks of declaring a holiday to protect the people from the scorching summer heat. While the debate is still on, a group of boys from ISCA Academy in Exeter, Devon have their own way of dealing with the hot weather.

Despite the 'no shorts' uniform policy of the school, these boys turned up wearing skirts instead of pants in school in order to to combat the heat.

"My son wanted to wear shorts but was told he would be put in the isolation room for the rest of the week," one of the boys' mother told Devon Live.

"The head teacher told them, 'Well you can wear a skirt if you like', but I think she was being sarcastic," she added. Obviously the kids took the suggestion literally and did just what they had been asked to do, inspiring other boys to follow suit.

In fact, these boys aren't the only protestors of the shorts ban during the heatwave. Many bus drivers in western French city of Nantes too are ditching the uncomfortable trousers and pants to deal with the "unacceptable" working conditions in the current weather.

While this rebellion has sparked the idea of prioritizing and the gender-neutral way of dressing, it is also giving us one really cool idea about how to beat the heat in ethnic style. How about wearing a lungi instead of skirts?

The traditional Indian alternative isn't just more unique, but is also more doable since all men need to do is to tie a piece of some easy-breezy, breathable fabric around their waists and they'll be good to go.
