Ladies, did you know that around two to six per cent of people in the world identify as having predominantly homosexual attractions?

Some attribute the attraction towards the same sex to one's upbringing; some call it a disease; some dismiss it as a mental ailment; and some simply think there's 'something wrong with you' if you're gay.

While there are countless lame social and political theories on why a person might be gay, there's full-fledged science behind it.

Let's try to understand what it is.

Several studies in the past have proven that heterosexual men and women are likely to have heterosexual siblings and children owing to some similar linkages in specific parts of their X chromosome. However, if this theory is to be believed then the 'gay' gene should have died out already since gay people have 80% less children than heterosexuals, you see.

Then what is it that makes one gay? Well, the answer lies in the science of epigenetics, which is a study of how the environment can affect your genes.

Basically, over a person's lifetime, various environmental factors like nutrition, poverty, a mother's love, education, exposure to toxic chemicals affect his/her genes and ultimately determine their sexual orientation.

So, drop all your per-conceived notions about homosexuality and watch this video to know more.

P.S. Don't forget to show this to all the misinformed, prejudiced people around you, who just think there's something wrong with being gay.
