Did you know your break-ups are just terrible for the environment?

If only your break-up coping mechanism involves hugging trees instead of pillows, the environment can be saved.

When we talk about protecting the environment, we talk about planting trees, recycling stuff, avoiding plastic, saving water, and what not. We've read about these measures in textbooks and we've heard activists spread the message too. But you know there's a significant aspect of saving the environment that these ecologists and scientists miss out on.

Don't be disappointed with them for keeping you in the dark all this while. Simply because firstly, these are matters of the heart and when your head is in science, you don't exactly pay heed to them. And secondly because, we've got their emotionless ass covered already. So we're going to enlighten you with all that you need to know about the crucial aspect we mentioned earlier.

Enough suspense! Here it is: Ladies, your break-up definitely affect your heart, but they also affect the environment. Yes, his insensitive /lying/dishonest/over-possessive/ misunderstanding/inexpressive/cheating ass isn't just a major threat to your tender, loving heart; but its after-effects can be harmful to Mother Nature too. Perhaps, you're too engrossed in your own pain to ever notice how your post-separation coping mechanisms wreak havoc for the ecosystem.

When You Do A Jab We Met, You Don't Exactly Do The Environment Any Good

While Imtiaz Ali had a great love story to tell and raked in big moolah at the box office for the Shahid Kapoor-Kareena Kapoor starrer movie--he didn't exactly fare too well of the environment-saving charts.

Apparently, setting your ex's picture aflame and flushing it off became a thing post Jab We Met. We took it so seriously that we added love letters, stuffed toys, and all the gifts exchanged to this fire-setting ritual, contributing our bit to the much-dreaded greenhouse effect by adding to the already-sky-high pollution levels.

But That's Not The Only Epidemic That Jab We Met Spread

Travelling solo too became a thing and inspired all the heartbroken aashiqs in the world to take the first train or flight out of the city and head out on a vacation or just simply storm out of the house in on a long, lonely drive in a car. Now this can be good for the soul, but not for the environment. Because you know what? Resource conservation is just as much of a thing as the solo vacay.

In fact, break ups also mean travelling to work alone, making it to parties alone, and driving to the shopping mall alone. Whatever happened to car pooling?

Your Shopping Spree Doesn't Just Hurt Your Pockets
Yes, shopping is a great pain reliever. But here's the real deal: More shopping, more happiness, more clothes, more make-up, more shoes, more shopping bags, more of the non-biodegradable plastics, more harm to the environment. Get that?

And Those Mirror-Cracking Revenge Looks Don't Help Either
Basically, break-up is the time when you get to focus on yourself. Focusing on yourself also means spending more time on grooming and going out more often. That, ladies, comes at a hefty price that Mother Nature has to pay. Those lustrous nail paints, and the chemical-laden products don't just worsen the already-toxic air and river water further when they are produced, but also goof up the ecosystem once they are disposed off, thanks to their plastic packaging. Needless to say, the more you use 'em the more harm you cause to the environment.

Binge Eating Can Dry Up Your Tears But Can Tear Up The Environment

Just like shopping, eating to combat the post-break up pain helps a great deal. But again, think about the harm those plastic ice-cream tubs, chocolate wrappers, and potato chips packets cause to the environment; if not about those bouts of not-so-pleasant-smelling air that escape from your precious derrière post consuming junk, adding to the greenhouse effect. Just saying.

Knowing About The New Girl In His Life Can Upset You As Well As The Environment
Not just because Mother Nature feels for you but because all that stalking requires you to use electrical gadgets like phones, laptop, and an Internet-connection router. Now, may be your relationship went on without any love left, but these gadgets can't operate without electricity. So, stop wasting electricity along with sparing yourself the horror of knowing what's going on in his life.

Obviously, we women choose to be strong, understanding, and sensitive towards the men in our lives and towards the environment that we live in. But that really doesn't mean you keep putting up with his toxic behaviour. Just be careful with your coping mechanisms and everything's gonna be alright.
