How do you define something that on an average 80% of sexually active women have difficulty experiencing? Something that one out of three women don't achieve due to mental blocks? Something that 10% of women are incapable of feeling thanks to physical conditions or medications?

We are talking about the female orgasm, which if these numbers from the Planned Parenthood Federation of America are to be believed, only 10% of women enjoy.

These statistics, of course, are American. In India-a country where women are mandated to be asexual beings by society, and men have mammoth egos-the female orgasm is even more elusive. Of course, we don't have the data to prove it, because duh-let's not talk about sex baby!

However, under our noses, a secret sexual revolution is taking place. One where the hallowed G spot is being plumped up by cosmetic gynaecologists (yup, it's legit field of medicine now) for maximum pleasure.

The idea behind the G-shot, or G-spot amplification as it is known medically, is simple: one injection every four months that can thicken and expand the G-spot area for heightened sexual pleasure. It will cost you, of course-about Rs 50,000 for every jab.

The G-shot is not a new discovery. In fact, it came into being in 2002, courtesy Dr David Matlock of Hollywood-better known as the guy behind Kim Kardashian's 'Brazilian Butt Lift'.

In India, we have gynaecologists like Chennai-based Dr Deepa Ganesh to thank for the coveted G-shot. Ganesh who trained under Matlock in Beverly Hills, and has been offering the G-shot to women since November of last year.

G spots are the unicorns of the gynaecology world--no one knows whether it truly exists, but everyone wants to believe in it. The fact that something like G-spot amplification exists in the world is a magical thing to begin with. Not due to a simple injection that can promise women bigger, better orgasms in just about eight seconds. But because G spots are the unicorn of the gynaecology world. The board is divided when it comes to this epicentre of female orgasm as many studies state that the G spot simply does not exist; while others claim to have discovered the 'C spot' or CUV-the clitoris, urethra, and vagina that share the same nerves.

However, what's even more interesting about the G-shot is the fact that it's in demand in a country like in India where women don't dare to tell their husbands they are unsatisfied in bed. Or perhaps that's the reason why more and more women are opting for it-because in under half an hour you can put an end to your between-the-sheets woes, without your partner finding out.

"Most of my patients are in their 40s and 50s," says Dr Bharti Magoo, a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, who has launched a similar technique at her clinic, Golden Touch, in Mumbai.

"For most, their sexual lives had plummeted, either due to reduced libido, less satisfaction or a sense of shortcoming, leading sometimes to insecurities in relationships," she told India Today magazine.

Of course, there are many experts who think that the G-shot is nothing but a scam. ""Under a microscope, vaginal tissues have never shown a huge network of nerve endings," told Dr Shahin Nooreyezdan, chief of the Apollo Cosmetic Clinic at Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, Delhi to the weekly magazine. Not to mention, there are many who believe that sexual dysfunction in women can't be fixed with the amplification of the G spot.

So then, is the pricey jab to your hoo-ha worth a shot?

Well, while there is no consensus on the subject medically, many women-in their testimonial to the magazine-claimed that they achieved "multiple orgasms that went on for hours." A few of them also said that after the G-shot, regular activities, like performing yoga or a bumpy car ride, also led to sexual arousal.

Perhaps, the G spot and its subsequent amplification, is like everything else that claims to instantly change your life: you've got to try it, to believe it.
