You may have been extremely angry at the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and its chief Pahlaj Nihalani for a while. after all, this man has created a lot of controversy for being overtly sanskaari. But guess what? He has apparently been removed as the Censor Board chief. No, this is not a hoax. At least we hope not.

According to The News Minute, Nihalani will be replaced by Prasoon Joshi to head the CBFC. Various TV reports have said that his censorship of films, which was objected  to by filmmakers and audiences alike, was the reason behind him being removed from the position.

Earlier it was reported by the Times Of India that a meeting of CBFC members was called by Nihalani in Thiruvananthapuram on July 28. Ministry of information and broadcasting sources had indicated that he might be replaced.

Various names were then mentioned in a bid to find the next Censor Board chief. Filmmaker Prakash Jha and TV producer-actor Chandraprakash Dwivedi were some of those who were likely to head the Board.

But, if we go by the current news, Joshi will be the new chief. And you know what? We are over the moon because of this new development. After all, things were becoming a little too messy with the chopping and censoring of things that shouldn't be chopped or censored in the first place. Especially after Censor Board under him decided to deny certification to Lipstick Under My Burkha, because it was too lady oriented. Not to mention, when he asked the maker of Jab Harry Met Sejal, Imtiaz Ali, to remove the word 'intercourse from the trailer'.

Needless to say social media is currently going gaga over this piece of news already.

We are just hoping that the news isn't fake and keeping our fingers crossed on this one.
