When it comes to fashion, we are all usually quite excited by the glitz and grandeur associated with the glamour industry. After all, those elaborate gowns and drool-worthy lehengas are a part of every girl's fairytail. But just imagine if this 'fairytailish' fashion saga could be topped with a doze of some real-life inspiration and motivate women to overcome all adversities in life and stand back up stronger than ever.

Well, that's exactly what happened at the ongoing India Runway Week, a biannual fashion event where young, emerging fashion designers showcase their creations. Designer duo Nikheil & Rivendra, who presented their winter-festive collection Vintage Vibes at the do had the best showstopper ever.

No, it wasn't some B-Town biggie or a socialite.

They roped in the specially-abled Ukranian model Alexandra Kutas to grace the ramp during the show.

Needless to say, it was inspiring to watch the 23-year-old beauty dressed in an elegant blue gown take on the ramp and conquer everyone's hearts.

The inspiring tale of Alexandra Kutas

Born in Dnipro in Ukraine, Kutas suffered a spinal cord injury due to a medical error during birth and has been using a wheelchair from an early age. But that couldn't deter the braveheart's spirit. She became a journalist and ventured into television and press studio, where she interviewed various creative people, conducted programs, and covered festivals.

In 2009, when the studio won a UNICEF contest, Kutas was chosen as one of the best young journalists. Next, she pursued psychology post her graduation and volunteered in a military hospital in Dnipro for three months after which she the fashion world caught her fancy-all thanks to a differently-abled woman modeling for British designer Alexander McQueen in 1999.

Kutas finally made her fashion debut at the Ukrainian Fashion Week in 2015 and there has been no looking back.

From fashion shows to photo shoots, Kutas has done them all and inspired women to be courageous and break all stereotypes.

Her struggle was real

All good things come at a price, and so did Kutas' success. In an interview to Newsy.com, she recalled her days of struggle and said, "They [a model agency] said, 'You are very pretty, and we love your photos, but unfortunately we don't think the market is ready for models with disabilities." But that didn't discourage her.

"I believe the world is ready. ... Any time I represent my photos anywhere, the behavior and reaction of society is very, very positive," she added.

And now, the fashion world just can't get enough of her

"We feel honoured to have Alexandra on India Runway Week (IRW). It is really important for all of us who represent an industry to bring forth all such talent without being biased. Fashion is a powerful tool that communicates vision for the sustainable development," said Avinash Pathania, director, Indian Federation for Fashion Development (IFFD).

As she graced the ramp at the India Runway Week, she didn't just motivate everyone to not give up regardless of the obstacles in life, but has also shunned stereotypes about having a picture-perfect model don a designer creation and walk the ramp.

Obviously, we couldn't be happier. Because you know what? Watching her light up the ramp with her positivity and grace is really inspiring. Don't you think?
