If you're an anxious person, chances are you don't go for vacations easily, even if you love travelling. Anxiety never coincided with travelling till I travelled with my parents--they always took care of everything. Once I moved out, travelling to meet my parents became a yearly routine--and the panic that met me every time makes me sympathize with every person who suffers the same. Let me tell you, it's not easy. From wondering every five minutes if you've forgotten your tickets to imagining the worst of accidents--I've been through it all.

If you too grip your chest every 10 seconds when you embark on a journey--you don't have to. Here are some ways to help you deal with your anxiety when in vacation mode.

Double Check Everything The Previous Night

Postponing will only worsen your situation--because anxiety. So keep your wallet, tickets, earphones, and charger in your travel bag a day before you are leaving. Make it the last thing you do before going to bed so that there is no chance you'll take it out again. This will also reduce your chances of stuffing things into random pockets and panicking every time you don't find things where you 'think' you kept it.

Meticulously Plan What Your Vacation Is To Be Like

Planning it out does not mean you have to follow it through--it's just to make you feel in control. So plan even if you know you cannot control every aspect of it. Having a game plan ready will soothe your nerves. Begin with where you're going to stay and the sights you're going to visit-and imagine the future you doing just that. It's a way of fooling your brain into believing you are foraying into everything predictable. Unwanted spontaneity can trigger anxiety--avoid it.

Remember, You Can Always Go Home

You don't have to panic about completely messing up--first of all, it's just a vacation. Messing up is what vacays are all about. Secondly, your permanent abode awaits your return in any case. So if you ever feel you could be stranded in the middle of nowhere, know that it's not permanent. You can always go home.

Set Aside Money, In Case You Chance Upon Bad Days

Being well prepared is a sure shot way to avoid panic. Keep aside a little money in your wallet. Because let's face it, you will panic just thinking about losing everything. So why not just keep some money aside and relax on that front? You might never have to use it, but the peace is totally worth it.

Anxiety is a fear of situations that can simply get out of control. It is your brain's reaction--it stresses before calamity strikes. And since vacays are about chilling, let's just do the titbits that can actually help us relax.
