From death by stoning to castration--this is how rapists are punished across the world. Indian lawmakers, are you listening?

Rape is definitely the most heinous crime a human being can commit. After all, it scars the survivors for life. And this brutal crime deserves an equally brutal punishment too.

While in our country, we do have laws that can make the rapists liable to lifetime imprisonment and a death sentence (in rare cases) thanks to the Anti-Rape Bill passed in 2013.  But then there are loopholes in the system as well that let the rapists escape from severe punishments or from any punishment at all.

You know, making laws is one thing. Following them strictly is another. And we've got to learn how to do it from these seven countries:

North Korea

Being a dictatorship, North Korea has absolutely no mercy for rapists. They are instantly shot in the head by the authorities and that's how justice is served to the rape victim.

China

China doesn't spare the rapists either. If convicted, there's no escaping death as the accused are shot dead at the spinal cord-neck joint. Or worse still--they are castrated. However, the sad part is that a fair trial is often amiss and there's a chance of innocent people paying for the strict policies of this autocratic country.

Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia has just one way of dealing with the convicted within days of their trial: sedation and public beheading. Game over.

Afghanistan

Afghanistan believes in giving quick justice to the rape victims. The trial goes on for not more than four days after which the guilty is shot dead in the head.

USA

In the USA, if the rape case falls under the federal law, the rapist can be punished with a few years of imprisonment to a lifetime one. However, the state laws of rape punishments differ from state to state

Egypt

The Egyptians firmly believe that a rapist deserves no less than death and hence they hang the guilty. It's fair till the time the innocents don't suffer.

Iran

Iran abides by the Islamic law that clearly states that death penalty is essential for rapists. So here also, the rapist is slapped with a death sentence, unless of course, the victim agrees to settle the case by accepting compensation. In that case, the rapist gets away with 100 lashes and sometimes imprisonment.

P.S. We do understand that being extremists when it comes to offering punishments can lead to innocents paying for the sins they haven't committed, but instilling fear in the minds of people is important. So a quick, fair trial and a severe punishment is all we want in our country.
