Women are often told that they are bad drivers. Now, you can blame it on the patriarchy or sheer stupidity, but most people do doubt a woman's parking abilities and driving sense. However, all these stereotypes are about to be debunked--all thanks to Mira Erda, who has become the first Indian woman to race in the Euro JK series, which is one of the highest classes of Formula Racing .

Erda, who has signed up for Euro JK series in the upcoming JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship, began her journey as one of the youngest in national karting. The 17-year-old (yes, she's just a teen) will be among the youngest Indian drivers to race at this level.

She had earlier won the Formula 4 Rookie Champion of the Year during the annual FMSCI awards, proving that she's no less than the male racers out there.

In an interview to PTI, she said that she had always dreamt of becoming a racer. "Ever since I started racing as a 9-year-old I have been dreaming of becoming a Formula 1 racer," said Erda.

"I want to thank JK Tyres and FMSCI for this wonderful opportunity as this is one huge jump forward towards realising my dream," she added.

The young racer, who will be preparing for Class 12 board exams, has a packed season as she will be racing in national rallies and international karting competitions, along with the National Championship.

Erda has already participated in about 75 races, both at the national and the international level, and has made India proud. However, the Euro JK series will definitely be one of the most challenging ones.

It's not only heartening to see a young girl racing with men, but it also breaks the stereotypes that women can't drive. We can't help but feel proud of this young girl, who may as well win the series. Well, we've got our fingers crossed for sure.
