Since 2015, Madaya has been under siege. The anti-Assad rebels have turned it into a garrison town with women and children having no escape. Sounds of mortar and shell is what the kids wake up to with the Syrian government trying every bit to reclaim the land. The mountainous town needs a messiah--one who doesn't come with a cape but understands the daily struggles for food and shelter.

ABC News in collaboration with Marvel has given the world a peek in to the life of what a real Syrian super heroine looks like. Madaya Mom is an attempt to tell people, what's going on inside the town where media has no access whatsoever. The identity of Madaya Mom has been kept a secret to not add to her troubles. The mom apparently has been in touch with ABC News and Marvel through texts and  phone, sharing tales of their daily miseries.

The true story of a mom who's trapped in Madaya with her kids for over an year, her heroic acts include making ends meet in war-torn Syria and providing the best she can to her kids. Here is an excerpt from the comics, "When we wake up, we drink mint or thyme tea from the garden, with a little bit of sugar. It keeps the children from being hungry for a while."

The digital comic is set in a graphic novel format, though Marvel has come out with few limited print edition. Here is a sneak peek into her world.
