You may want to cover your ears for this peeps!

If you are a music lover who has spent most of your life listening to classic Bollywood songs, we bet, 2016 was not a very good year for you.
Tonnes of films released this year remixed old melodies, and turned them into, well, noise.

Nonsensical lyrics overrode the once beautifully written couplets, and soothing melodies were tainted with dhin chak beats.

We can't help but think that perhaps there is a dearth of good musicians and lyricists in the country. Otherwise, why would filmmakers ruin classics under the guise of remixing? We're seriously hoping, inciting nostalgia wasn't the purpose because these remixed versions are just terrible!

Don't believe us? Hear them for yourselves!

Humma Humma, Ok Jaanu
By now you have probably seen the trailer of Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur's Ok Jaanu. While we'll spare the trailer here, we can't help but get angry at their appalling take on Humma Humma. AR Rahman's beautiful creation has been stabbed to death by Badshah.

Pal Pal Dil Ke Pass, Wajah Tum Ho
This beautiful melody was created by Kishore Kumar for the film Blackmail in 1973. Forty three years later, the makers of Wajah Tum Ho have made a mockery of it. Not to mention, it's really hard to see television actor Gurmeet Choudhary and actress Sana Khan replacing luminaries like Dharmendra and Rakhee.

Kaate Nahi Katte, Force 2
This song has been etched in our memories, courtesy Sridevi's dance moves and that glorious turquoise sari. Cut to 2016, we have Sonakshi Sinha grooving to the new version of the song sung by Neha Kakkar. No offence to the singer, but it's no match to the original.

Maahi Ve, Wajah Tum Ho
The singer Neha Kakkar strikes again. And this time the catastrophe has claimed one of our favourites from our teen years, Maahi Ve from the film Kaante. Seriously, what the fuck have they done to the lyrics of the song? Janta maaf nahi karegi.

Oye Oye, Azhar
This was the disappointment of the year. Remember the song Oye Oye from the film Tridev? One that had Madhuri Dixit and Sangeeta Bijlani dancing to its quirky beats. The very peppy number was royally screwed by DJ Chetas, when he decided to remix the song with some really annoying tunes for the film Azhar.

Saara Zamana Haaseno Ka Deewana, Kaabil
Last but not the least--this latest tragedy to strike the world of music. The remixed version of the song Sara Zamana (the original was produced for the film Yarana, starring Amitabh Bachchan), is not only a huge disappointment; but seeing Urvashi Rautela in place of Big B wanted us bang our heads against the wall.
