This woman had the most disturbing conversation with her classmate over consumption of beef

Does eating beef amount to incest? We really don't think so.

Has India turned into a no country for personal choices? Unfortunately, it seems so. Long gone are the days when people could exercise their right to freedom of speech without getting hate and rape threats. And lost are those years when the citizens of the country could eat cuisine of their choice without being insulted.

Recently, a Delhi-based Arunima Bhattacharya took to Facebook to share a post, which had screenshots of a conversation with her classmate over consumption of beef.

And trust us--after a point, it got appalling.

"I just had a full-fledged conversation with a guy in my class (whom I have never seen btw) about how I, being a Hindu, am okay with beef and can justify beef, since I was born into a Hindu Brahmin family," she wrote in her post.

Turned out, the guy was offended with Bhattacharya's view over beef consumption. A self-proclaimed cow vigilante, he went on to condemn her stance and belittled her for eating beef despite being born a Hindu.

To which, Bhattacharya replied with much poise saying that if she does or doesn't eat a particular kind of meat, it's a matter of personal choice and has nothing to do with religion.

Drawing an insane analogy, the vigilante went on to compare eating beef with incest!

"Agar aap apne friends ya boyfriend ke saath sex karte ho, toh iska matkab yeh toh nahi ke aap apne bhai ke saath sex karogi," he wrote!

Disgusted with the twisted reasoning of a random stranger, Bhattarchya retorted by saying that having sex with a sibling does not equate to eating beef or any food for that matter. It is a personal choice and should not be burdened with the norms of a religion.

Let's be honest. Religion is a sensitive topic in India, one that can easily offend anyone. But, why do we try to impose our beliefs on others. Yes, if we wish to follow a particular culture we are free to do so, but why force those who don't wish to join in?

Come on people, there are other important social issues worth discussing than arguing over who eats what.
