I hate it when men think I am PMSing because I am upset with them. Women are allowed to have feelings too

Situations affect my mood, not my ovaries.

Last week, I went to meet an old friend of mine. I reached the spot on time and ordered myself a coffee while I was waiting for him. When he didn't show up after 20 minutes, I decided to call him--a call he didn't take by the way. So, when he did eventually show up--after an hour and 15 minutes later to be precise--I was furious. And of course I had my reasons for it.

But, this dear friend of mine with a stupid smirk on his face was least apologetic. He blamed the traffic for his delay and went on to chit-chat. When I pointed out that he should have called, or at least informed me, he said, "Don't make a mountain of a molehill. I said I am sorry."

And that just did it! I couldn't contain myself and said that I had all the reasons to be angry with him because I was waiting in the scorching summer heat. But, what he said next just drove me over the edge.

He nodded as if he understood what I had to go through and calmly retorted that I must be PMSing, so no wonder I was in a foul mood!

Honestly, what insane logic is that? Can't women get upset, anxious or angry for valid reasons? Why do men like him always attribute our moods to our menstrual cycle? All this hullaballoo about women behaving like a ticking time bomb is just crap, and in all honestly, a vain effort to shift the blame of the entire situation on women.

Let's just take a moment here and retrospect. When we see a man losing his temper or just being cranky, do we start blaming the hormonal imbalance in his body as the reason for his spoilt mood. No, right? We try to decipher reasons behind it. So, why can't we extend the same courtesy to women? Why does there have to be something wrong with our bodies to react in a certain way? The logic in itself is totally crass and sexist.

So, dear men. Don't you dare assume that I am PMSing just because I don't agree with you or don't behave like a meek cow. I am a human being with a thousand emotions and my periods got nothing to do with it.
