Summer is upon us and it's become almost unbearable to step out of the house without the heat slapping us hard on the face. And we are sure, like us, you too are dying to seek refuge and solace in some picturesque little place with weather not as killing as the one we are forced to endure.

However, planning a trip costs money and not everyone is comfortable shelling big bucks for a vacay every now and then. But ladies, you just leave that to us. You go ahead and plan a vacation to your favourite destination sans any worries. And well no, though we can't sponsor your trip, but we sure can give you some super practical and helpful tips to save moolah on your vacation. This way, you will have a time of your life without digging a hole in your pocket.

So, here's what you can do:

Travel Midweek Instead Of Weekend
Yes, it's much easier to pack your bags and get all your pending work done, before hitting the escape button on a weekend. But, it also means that you will end up paying a little more for your tickets. Check any travel website you want, you will always find prices of weekend flights a little expensive than the ones available during the week. Also, instead of taking a direct flight, take the one that has stops. It costs cheaper.

Skip Eating Out a Lot
Having three to four meals a day in a restaurant doesn't come cheap. Plus you've got to pay service tax, VAT, and a ton of other add-ons. Not pretty, is it? So, what you can do instead is go grocery shopping. Yup, go and buy some knick knacks and easy-to-eat items like fruits, protein bars, cereals, Maggi, and other loads of stuff. Eat in at least one meal of the day and you will get to save some cash.

Don't Exchange Cash
If you are planning a trip to the foreign soils, here's a tip for you: don't exchange all of your cash as soon as you land. Why you ask? Well, according to My Domaine, withdrawing local currency from an ATM will always give you the best exchange rates, so avoid currency exchange kiosks and even local banks. Bring just enough foreign cash to get you to your first destination, and stop by a local ATM once you arrive.

Use Public Transport
While taking an Uber or an OLA might look tempting while sightseeing, it's definitely going to cost you more. If you wish to see a lot of different places in the same day; visit restaurants, go shopping, and pay a visit to the local monuments, you will end up commuting a lot. And taking a private cab will not come cheap. So, just travel like the locals. Take buses, tramps, metros, and other available public transports.

Download Travel Apps
It's imperative that you keep a tab on your expenses while you are on a vacation, which is a hard thing to do--we get that. So, here's a solution: just download an app that can help you track of your expenditure and saving. For instance, if you are iPhone user download Trail Wallet or XE currency on your Android phone. The point is to have useful apps, which keep reminding you how much you are actually spending in a day.
