The 'ribcage bragging' trend is so hideous, it'll make you love 'thigh gaps' and 'hip dents' in comparison

Not that the other body-image trends are any better, but it's getting worse by the day.

Body image issues have haunted women forever. From the expectations of having a gap between the thighs to having a curvaceous waist with a flat tummy--there's so much pressure on women to look a certain way.

According to the Daily Mail, adding to this immense pressure is yet another body-image trend of 'ribcage bragging' that has taken the social media by frenzy. Thanks to 'icons' like Kourtney Kardashian and Bella Hadid posting their bikini-clad pictures while flashing their protruding ribcages; this trend is spreading like fire in the forest.

Yes, it requires a lot of hard work, sweating it out in the gym for hours, and a great will power to resist high-calorie foods to get that kind of body. There's nothing wrong in women trying to shed off kilos and getting a body of heir dreams. However, what is irksome is the fact that these trends send out the wrong message to so many women out there, who idolize these influential people and so-called fitness icons.

 Not only does it set unrealistic standards of beauty, it also glorifies extreme weight loss, which may not necessarily be healthy for women.

We hope that someday, a more relatable, achievable, and a non-pressurizing trend catches on that spreads the message of body positivity and encourages women to follow a healthy lifestyle rather than starving themselves to look a certain way.
