To wear or not to wear? It should always be the woman's choice.

In a world where hijab is no longer just a fabric that covers the head, being a hijabi is rather difficult. This harmless piece of garment has turned into an emblem of scrutiny, often subjecting women to racial discrimination.

Ever since Donald Trump got elected as the President of United States of America, reports of hijab-clad Muslim women getting harassed started doing the rounds on the Internet. And a similar thing happened to US-based 17-year-old Lamyaa.

According to a report by Buzzfeed, Lamyaa was a member of a chat group where the topic of "President Trump and the tense political climate" was recently discussed. Lamyaa, not being a fan of Trump's political policies involving the Muslim citizens of the country, expressed her views by condoning his actions.

"I personally had very strong views considering the presidency did impact me because I am an Arab, Muslim woman," she said in an interview to the website. However, when she did express her views, some people in the group did not take kindly to her comments. One member, in fact, went on to abuse her.

"Stop defending Islam bitch shut up you couldn't take that scarf off or your dad would beat your ass," the website reported the commentator as saying.

Not very kind, is it?

However, Lamyaa did not let the matter die with the conversation. What she did next has turned her into a social media star. The 17-year-old texted her father, who lives in Saudi Arabia, to find out whether he would actually 'beat her ass' if she decided to take off her hijab.

Surprisingly, the response she got from her dad is winning hearts on the Internet, now.

"Sweetheart that's not my decision to make. That's no man's decision to make. If it's what you feel like you want to do, go ahead. I'll support you no matter what," he responded. And that really is heartwarming. Haven't we come across many reports and news, in the past, where men don't allow women to think for themselves or act on it? But, in this case, we couldn't help but feel impressed.

After Lamyaa posted a screenshot of her conversation with her father on social media, people couldn't help but cheer for her. So far, her post has been retweeted more than 150,000 times.
