How many times have you heard the term 'woman CEO' and cringed? How many times have you wondered why we need to mention the gender of a person before their designation, especially if it's a woman? Because let's be honest, there is no such thing as 'man CEO', for them it's just CEO.

In a bid to question these prefixes, Blush Channel has shared a video that look at the gender stereotypes women have to deal with.

The video titled #KaamSeMatlabRakh sends the message that people should be recognised for their work and not for their gender. It shows various women in their profession, with their gender attached to it. Starting from 'lady doctor' to 'rapper chick' to 'girl skateboarder', the video shows how the society is still stuck in the rut of gender binary.

What everyone needs to understand is that by labelling her a "woman CEO", one isn't breaking a stereotype. The use of such label, in fact, accepts and panders to it, which is clearly not empowering.

While we hope that society's mindset will change gradually, we still live in a world dominated by men. Women nowadays don't work only to get to the equal position as compared to their male counterparts, they work because they like what they do.

It's time we let go off gender and language stereotyping. We can fight as much we want, raise our voices to lungs content. But until we realize that talent, skill, hobby, or a profession has nothing to do with gender, nothing will ever change.

If equality is what we want to move towards, we will have to start with denouncing these stereotypes.
