After Anushka Sharma and Sonakshi Sinha, it is fashion designer Gaurav Gupta cashing in on feminism

Mr. hotshot designer, you become a feminist by your actions, not your T-shirts.

Feminism is definitely the most misunderstood concept of all time. But, now it has turned into the most publicity-garnering one as well. Why else do you think actresses, who happily star in songs objectifying women, are going all out sporting outfits with 'feminist' statements printed on them?

It all began with Anushka Sharma's cover shoot for Vogue. The actress was seen wearing a T-shirt with 'We should all be feminists' printed on it.

Maybe because everyone hailed Anushka for her so-called 'feminist' move, it gave her contemporaries the inspiration to follow in her footsteps.  And so Sonakshi Sinha was featured in Elle magazine sporting outfits with similar messages.

However, it seems like this whole fashion-feminism publicity stunt has seriously caught up with the glamour industry. Recently, ace fashion designer Gaurav Gupta, who is known for his elaborate gowns, showcased his Spring-Summer 2017 Collection with great pomp and show.

Blame it on his desperate effort to do things differently to get attention or simply on feminism being the hottest-selling trend these days, the designer came up with three 'special feminist' looks during the show.

While the rest of the models were dressed in his signature elaborate garments, three models along with the designer himself were seen wearing rather simple T-shirts with feminist messages written on them. The designer decided to pair them up with heavy skirts, which was nothing less than a fashion disaster to be precise. Take a look at how mismatched the ensemble looks.

We fail to understand why the designer felt the need to include feminism just for the sake of it to his designs? The movement has helped in uplifting the status of women in the society, and it's not as trivial as it is made to be. We'd would actually appreciate some awareness, sensitivity, and sensibility from these famous icons before they decide to use it to make big bucks. Not to mention, you become a feminist with your actions, not by your outfits.
