Ladies, more reasons to stay sober! Study claims women don't need alcohol to enjoy parties, unlike men

Alcohol sometimes becomes the life of the party, right? And it's always fun to catch with some friends over a few drinks. Especially on those ladies nights, when there are free drinks. Who doesn't like that? But ladies, did you know that we actually don't need alcohol to enjoy a social situation?

Before you tell us that we are indulging in moral policing, let us tell you that it's a new study that has revealed that women don't need alcohol to enjoy themselves, unlike men.

According to the research led by the University of Pittsburgh, men are more likely to smile at each other and talk more loudly in conversation after a few drinks. While women are perfectly capable of enjoying themselves and bonding with others sober.

The researchers said that this is because of various masculine norms that leave men embarrassed to show too much emotion. According to the, the alcohol causes changes in their brains, making them less inhibited.  Men are able to share their stories and bromantic feelings easily after a few drinks down.The research, which was published in the journal Behaviour Research and Therapy, concluded that men get more 'social rewards' from drinking alcohol than women.Also read: Gone are the days of dealing with drunk men. Lead author Dr Michael Sayette said: "We saw men are more likely to catch smiles from each other after drinking, reducing the awkwardness among a group of them. Alcohol especially seems to facilitate smiling in men. They need it more than women, who experience more similar bonding effects when they are sober.

But, this doesn't mean that you quit drinking of course. This just mean you can have fun with your girlfriends regardless of alcohol. Well, if you yourself are the life of the party, who needs alcohol, right?
