In a bid to set a world record, Air India operated a flight around the world with an all-women crew ahead of International Women's Day. Now, isn't that something?

The aircraft, a Boeing 777-200LR had taken off from New Delhi for San Francisco on February 27. The voyage included a 15,300km journey over the Pacific and Atlantic Ocean, thereby encircling the globe.

Piloted by captains Sunita Narula, Kshamta Bajpayee, Indira Singh, and Gunjan Aggarwal, this all-women crew flight returned home yesterday, landing at the Indira Gandhi International airport.

The airline has already applied for a Guinness World Record and Limca Book of Records for its unique attempt.

According to a report by the Economic Times, the entire flight was operated by women staff of eight departments that included cockpit crew, cabin crew, check-in, doctors, customer care, ATS, and ground handling staff comprising of operators, technicians, engineers, flight dispatchers, and trimmers.

Upon the flight's arrival, the airline released an official statement, which read: "AI 174 from San Francisco touched down Delhi this evening adding yet another feather to Air India's cap in its constant endeavour to encourage women. The flight AI 173 had earlier taken off from IGI Airport in Delhi on 27th February to San Francisco covering a distance of around 15300 km in 15 and a half hours over the Pacific route and on the return journey from San Francisco over the Atlantic."
As per a PTI report, Air India has also become the first Indian carrier to operate on the Pacific Ocean route which has reduced the total flying duration by three hours.

Now, that International Women's Day is just around the corner, the airline has decided to operate similar all-women flights on its domestic and international routes as well.
