We all read self-help books to get better insight into our lives that would make things easier to handle. Self-help books often advice us to make better choices and sometimes even change the way we look at things. However, I never needed self-help books, know why?

Well, because I'm always surrounded by very "concerned" people who never shy away from giving me nonsensical advises because I'm gay. Yeah, my sexual orientation worries people so much that they can't help but give me life advises. And mind you these are pretty unsolicited ones, because honestly, I know how to live my life.

Here are five things people repeatedly say to help the very  gay damsel in distress that I am.

Marry Your Best Friend, He anyway Knows You're Gay
Because marriage is apparently the ultimate solution to everything, right? WRONG. Being gay isn't a problem in the first place and my best friend is least interested in marrying me. Why? Because he is actually my ex-boyfriend.

Before you start analyzing how it could be possible then let me tell you that like every closeted person, I too had a straight phase. It was just a phase because I eventually came out of the closet (while I was dating him) and turned him into a Ross.

Find A Gay Guy And Be With Him, You Won't Have To Worry About Social Acceptance
According to people, the gay guy can live his own life, while I can live mine. It's amazing how people think that the main aim of every girl is to end up with a guy--even if she's gay! How about people create a gay matrimonial site where I can happily find the guy of "my" dreams?

Grow Your Hair Out, You Won't Look So Gay Then
I love my hair the way it is and I don't care if it makes me look a certain way. According to me, I look like a human being and that's actually enough for me. Maybe people would stop saying anything at all if I completely shave my head. Now, that's something to consider.

Go And Live In The US, Your Life Will Be Easier
Yes, as if Americans haven't had enough of Trump and I should be another person tolerating him. Because, well dukh baatne se kam hota hai. No, thank you. I would rather fight for my rights here and dream of the day Section 377 gets repealed than tolerate another homophobic man in power.

Don't Come Out To Everyone You Meet. Its Personal, Right?
How about everyone stops assuming that I'm straight the minute they meet me? How about they stop assuming that if I'm dating someone, it's most definitely a man? Till the time people don't stop imposing heterosexuality on me, I won't stop coming out either. Hell I'll even wear the rainbow flag in public, if required.
