There's a new superhero in the Marvel universe. And guess what? She's female, queer, and inspired by Beyoncé. Exciting, right?

According to reports, the latest incarnation of Miss America, America Chavez has got her own comic-book series titled--America. The front cover of the comic's second issue is designed by Joe Quinones, who took to twitter to share the news.

It is a homage to the Crazy In Love singer and shows a woman of colour dressed in the colour of the flag--red, white and blue, but with a grimace on her face. The design, which also features Captain Marvel and Monica Rambeau, is inspired by Beyoncé's Formation video with some America-inspired flair.

Marvel in its announcement has revealed that the new Avenger will have a face-off with an alien horde. The American publishers also said that readers will get to see the superhero managing her social life and attending various classes on alternate Earths.

The comic about the Latin-American LGBTQ teen superhero will be written by Gabby Rivera and hits the bookstores on March 1. However, the Beyoncé-inspired cover will be available in April.

Marvel has made history in recent years by introducing a series of diverse characters, like the Black Panther and Kamala Khan. In fact, in 2016, they teamed up with ABC to produce a wonderful comic about a Syrian mother with superhuman patience and motherly instinct. The comic titled Madaya Mom depicts a mother of five trapped inside the besieged Syrian town Madaya. It was inspired by an anonymous citizen of the Syrian town, who managed to make contact with journalists, who in return chronicled her fight for survival across numerous blog posts.

The publishers have time again made deliberate efforts to appeal to new consumers in broader markets--breaking away from the notion that the comic book culture only caters to white males.

This comic will definitely be something to look forward to and we hope that it paves way to the inception of more such characters. What if one day America Chavez gets featured in a Marvel movie? We've got our fingers crossed!
