Do you remember the recent ICC Champions Trophy final match that was played between India and Pakistan? Remember how agonizing it was when the captain Virat Kohli got out or when Pakistan beat India by 180 runs? We understand the wound is pretty raw and the defeat still might feel too taxing to get over with. But, there's still hope for all the heartbroken cricket lovers--Mithali Raj.

If you have completely lost all faith in the sport that you treated as a religion, let us tell you that the Indian women's cricket team, under Raj's captainship, is actually better than the one led by Kohli. Nope, we are not making this up because we have proof.

Let us give you the facts straightway. According to the stats by India Today, Kohli-led India's men's cricket team has played total 23 ODI (One Day International) matches since January 2016. Guess the number of matches they have won till now. Only 13. Yes, that is indeed the actual number.

How many ODI matches have the Indian women's cricket team has played you ask? They have played 19 matches since February 2016. Yes, it's not as many matches as the men's team, because cricket fraternity has always cared more about men's cricket.

But do you know how many matches our women in blue have won--18. That's right, they've won 18 out of 19 matches. They lost only one match out of all the ODIs that they have played.

The question is how many of you cricket fanatics actually knew about this? But, the most important question is although why didn't you know about this?

See, we are a country of cricket lovers. A country that views cricket as a religion and Sachin Tendulkar as God. We are the same country that has more children playing galli cricket than gali football or gali kabaddi for that matter, or even hockey. But we still choose to ignore our women cricket players.

We are definitely not trying to diss or criticize men's cricket. All we are saying is that we do have an amazing team of women players, led by an equally amazing captain Raj, who have been doing well for quite sometime.

In fact, the team has already won their first match in the ongoing ICC Women's World Cup, where they beat England by 35 runs. And that's not all, earlier the team had set a world record in the quadrangular one-day international (ODI) series in South Africa.

Indian openers Deepti Sharma and Poonam Raut shared a record stand of 320 runs against Ireland's team. The girls not only smashed the previous women's ODI record of 268 set by England in 2008, but also won the match.

So do you see what we are saying? There is a light at the end of the tunnel for all those disappointed by the Champions Trophy final--Mithali Raj.
