If there's one place on the public transit that makes it absolutely safe for women to travel, it's the women's coach of the Delhi Metro. It's the one place where we're not gawked at for wearing short skirts, for flashing bra straps, and can bend over without anybody peaking into our t-shirts. It's one of the best and safest public transport available in India.

Over the course of time, one comes to notice different types of women you're sure to find inside the coach. A certain category whose variations change from person to person, but the basic characteristics remain the same. So that's what this is going to be about, the kinds of women you can spot inside the Delhi Metro.

The Ones who Don't Give a Damn About Announcements

And we've all fit the bar at least once. They always sit on the floor, eat inside metros, and click pictures--even after they are prohibited from doing so by officials at metro stops. If you run into them time and again because your work hours collide, you'll see nothing brings them down, coz mah life mah rules.

The Ones who have Their Outfit Game on Point

How do they do it? How do they make their way through the crowd at the station, through the crowd that pushes them into metro coaches, and through the crowd that makes breathing difficult, and yet, manage to look impeccable? You'll find them breezing their way past you, no wrinkle on the clothes or on the forehead. They're the rare specimen.

The Ones who Find a Place or Make one

The Delhi Metro's been around for too long for you to not know them. These are the women who'll ask you to shift on a bench overcrowded with people, fit a quarter of their arse on it, and go on to act like all's well in the world. What's wrong with you guys? Isn't standing a lot better than sliding up a part of your butt every time the metro moves?

The Religious Ones Counting Their Beads

They could be reciting anything from the Hanuman Chalisa to the Holy rosary. It's funny to notice how they'd check out every woman who comes and goes, give a full-fledged perusal to who's wearing/doing what. You can also find them staring into the phones of those sitting next to them. That's the omnipresent God trying to work through them, we guess.

The Ones who Never Look up From Their Books

They're the ones who don't give a blessed damn, unless a push or a shove disturbs them. You'll find them sitting on the seat, on the floor, or just leaning against one of the poles on the metro. But once in a while, there will be those who have a book open on their lap, a phone in their hand, and a wandering eye judging everybody around. Keep reading, you! Sure that's a great book!

As stated earlier, it's the best place to be. It's the place to entertain yourself with, it's the place to feel the safest while being stared at, and it's also the place where you can just be you. Thank God for the women's coach, dontcha think?
