Don't let picture-perfect celebrities make you body shame yourself. Here's why

After all, no one wakes up with six-pack abs every day.

International Yoga Day created quite an uproar--at least on social media. In fact, many celebrities posted pictures glorifying the meditative form of exercise. One of them was Tanu Weds Manu Returns actress Kangana Ranaut, who too was seen performing a difficult yoga asana to perfection.

While her stance and flexibility seemed commendable, what caught our eye was her sculpted-to-perfection body and her protruding abs. So much so, that it inspired us to go on a diet and hit the gym right away. However, upon deeper thinking, we understood why it wasn't such a great idea to get carried away after seeing pictures of celebs flaunting their perfect bodies.

First of all, it is important to understand that just like us, these actresses are human beings too. And just like us, they don't wake up with a set of abs every morning. Also, their weight fluctuates too. For instance, Katrina Kaif grabbed eyeballs when she danced away to glory on Kala Chashma, thereby flaunting her flat stomach. However, soon after the movie, she looked visibly fuller.

Kareena Kapoor Khan too took the nation by storm with her ultra-slim, size-zero avatar for her 2008 movie Tashan, following which many women took to extreme dieting in a bid to lose weight. Soon after the movie, even she got back to her healthier self, proving that it's unrealistic to not have any fat on your body.

And that's not it. It's also important to understand that there is Photoshop, great lighting, and visual effects involved in making these stars look absolutely flawless on screen. Not to mention, the army of fashion designers, stylists, make-up professionals, fitness trainers, and dieticians, who take care of these celebrities 24X7.

In fact, not so long ago, Sonam Kapoor admitted to flawlessness being a dangerous, high-budget myth. "Before each public appearance, I spend 90 minutes in a makeup chair. Three to six people work on my hair and makeup, while a professional touches up my nails. My eyebrows are tweezed and threaded every week. There's concealer on parts of my body that I could never have predicted would need concealing," she was quoted as saying.

To be honest, there's no denying the fact that the celebs themselves work super hard to keep up with the demands of being in the show business. But it is important to be aware of the fine line between inspiration and obsession. We women tend to get carried away and get overtly ambitious upon seeing other picture-perfect women on the silver screen. However, you need to love yourself for who you are and be realistic. So admire these divas all you want but then move the hell on instead of obsessing over looking a certain way.
