According to research, female doctors save more lives than male ones

Instances of discrimination against women and lack of opportunities for them aren't new to this gender-biased world. From top actresses in the film industry to powerful women from the corporate sector, women have often been heard of complaining about not being paid as much as their male counterparts at the same level and other such gender-based disparities. 

But here is a befitting answer to all those who attribute these differences to the effects of disproportionate domestic responsibilities like maternity leaves and other such obligations that women have in life.

According to a study published in the journal, JAMA Internal Medicine, female physicians tend to provide better medical care to their patients than their male counterparts.

In fact, the researchers from Harvard University reviewed the records of 1,583,028 Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries with a medical condition, who were 65 years or older and found out that mortality and readmission rates were significantly lower when the patient's doctor was a female.

We say significant because the difference is huge. As per the study, if male physicians were as adept as females, around 32,000 fewer Americans would die every year-among Medicare patients alone.

Going by a few studies done in the past, the main reason for this is the tendency of a female doctor to provide preventative care and psychological counseling. Also, lady doctors are known to follow clinical guidelines more obediently, which is also why they treat their patients better.

Not that we needed a research to validate our capabilities, but we hope that it does shut a couple of mouths, now that we all know the realities of life. Just saying.
