8 reasons why Poo from Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham is our role model

Because she was beyond "good looks, good looks, and good looks".

Fifteen years ago when Kabhi Khush Kabhi Gham was released, we all fell in love with the extravagant family drama directed by the most serious filmmaker of our times, Mr. Karan Johar.

After all it takes nothing more than a genius to make the overacting of his heavy-duty star cast with glittery costumes and grand locations.

Amidst all the rave reviews that the film received, it was Kareena Kapoor's portrayal of Poo (short for Pooja, of course!) in the movie that won the award for best drama queen from the audience, leaving behind veterans like Kajol and SRK.

Now, almost two decades later as we sit back and retrospect, it turns out that Poo was the most inspiring character of them all.

Here's why.

1. She Was Always Brutally Honest

You obviously thought Poo was being mean when she asked her college mate if she was wearing the same top that she wore two days back, right? But did your judgmental ass also notice how she immediately follows it up with a 'heartfelt' compliment: "tum pe kaafi suit karta hai'.

Even the closest of our friends don't exhibit such honesty in life. And well, even if Poo wasn't so pleased with the idea of repeating outfits, she was only helping the other chick realize the importance of versatility. What's wrong with that?

2. Versatility Was Definitely Her Strong Suit

Poo could turn into Parvati in no time, and sing "Om Jai Jagdish" instead of "It's raining men, hallelujah".

3. She Was Never OTT, Everyone Else Was Mediocre

So what if it was her dad's death anniversary? The lass stood her ground and turned up in a figure-hugging, sequined, black Indo-western number for the prayer meeting. The staring aunties didn't matter, because she knew people are incapable of understanding her fashion sense.

4. Men Don't Get To Judge You

Firstly, you rate them on a scale of zero to 10. Rating in minus is also an option if they're just way below your standards.

Secondly, you've got to blame it on the guy's lack of good fortune if he doesn't check you out. And you have all the right to go: "Kaun hai yeh? Jisne dubaara mudke mujhe nahin dekha? Who is he?", and question his priorities in life.

5. Self-Care is Of Prime Importance

The lady never got her outfits wrong. While rest of us lazy creeps barely make it to college or office on time, she made sure she woke up at least 10 hours prior, only to look sizzling hot in a bikini top and a mini skirt. The London winter needed that hotness, after all.

6. She Was Strong, Even When The Odds Were Against Her

Yes, that includes wearing two different shoes to the prom. It doesn't matter, even if the hottest dude from college is your date that night.

Poo had every chance to go back to her room to change her shoes when Rohan (our very own Hrithik Roshan, of course) pointed out her folly. Instead, she invented a new fashion trend of wearing two entirely different shoes, that too on the spot! That's the spontaneity we all need in life.

7. She Taught Us No Means No Before 'Pink'

Even if the hottest guy on the planet asks you out for a movie and you don't like it, you just don't think twice before turning him down in front of the whole college.

8. You're Dumb If You Thought She Was Dumb

Blame it on her good looks, but most of us never realized that it's her brain that stole the show. We mean, not only did she manage to make a random, super-hot dude stay with her conservative family; but she also orchestrated a plan so her sister could get the love and respect in the Raichand family she deserved. Oh, and let's not forget she had Hrithik all to herself in the meantime.
